Purpose and Impact of Your Role As the Transportation Attorney at Wisner Baum, you will be at the forefront of shaping innovative legal strategies, adeptly navigating intricate transportation issues, and passionately advocating for our clients, particularly in the dynamic intersection of general liability and personal injury within the realm of trucking cases. What You’ll Do Advocacy and Promotion : Actively participate in selling the firm's capabilities, showcasing your expertise to potential clients, and contributing to the firm's growth. Effectively communicate the firm's value proposition in professional settings. Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on novel and complex legal issues related to transportation law. Discovery Management: Draft and respond to discovery requests, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of case nuances. Legal Drafting: Prepare complaints, motions, jury instructions, briefs, and other legal documents to advance our clients' positions. Litigation Strategy: Collaborate with Partners to develop and implement effective litigation strategies. Expert Collaboration: Work closely with experts to understand and present case-specific details. Court Advocacy: Argue motions in open court, showcasing your legal acumen and persuasive skills. Depositions: Prepare for and conduct lay and expert depositions, contributing to the evidentiary foundation of cases. What You Need to Get the Job Done Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Legal Experience: Proven experience as an attorney with a strong background in transportation law, general liability, and personal injury. Litigation Skills: Experience in taking and defending depositions, attending court appearances, mediations, and drafting/opposing motions. Research Proficiency: Familiarity or proficiency with Westlaw and Filevine. Trial Experience: Civil trial experience, with first chair experience being a significant advantage. Professional Attributes: Energetic, positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering excellent work products. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, follow through, and meet deadlines.
