You may be:

* Diagnosing electrical, drivability, network, module, and communication concerns
* Building diagnostic strategies using scan data, wiring diagrams, testing results, and technical information

The equipment is already here

Atlantic Motorcar provides the specialized equipment required for factory-level European work, including:

* BMW ISTA with ICOM interfaces
* Mercedes-Benz XENTRY
* Manufacturer-specific diagnostic platforms
* Factory technical information and wiring diagrams
* Programming and coding equipment
* Oscilloscopes and professional electrical testing equipment
* Smoke-testing equipment
* Pressure and vacuum testing equipment
* Manufacturer-specific specialty tools
* Tekmetric shop management and digital vehicle inspections

You bring your basic personal hand tools. You will not be expected to personally purchase expensive specialty equipment for occasional manufacturer-specific procedures.

*Who we’re looking for*

You do not need to check every possible box.

We’re looking for an experienced technician who can think through difficult problems, has strong electrical and diagnostic ability, takes ownership of their work, and wants to keep learning.

You may be a strong fit if you:

* Have advanced automotive diagnostic and repair experience
* Are comfortable working independently on most repairs
* Understand how to build a diagnostic plan instead of relying only on fault codes
* Have strong electrical testing and data interpretation skills
* Have experience with European, luxury, or comparable import vehicles
* Are comfortable using advanced diagnostic equipment
* Take pride in accurate repairs and clear documentation
* Are dependable, professional, curious, and accountable
* Are willing to ask for another perspective when it leads to a better answer
* Enjoy sharing knowledge rather than guarding it

Approximately five or more years of professional experience is preferred, but Atlantic Motorcar places significant value on diagnostic intelligence, electrical ability, quality of work, curiosity, and character.

ASE certifications and manufacturer-specific training are strongly valued but are not required.

*Compensation*

$90,000–$145,000+ annually

Compensation is based on your experience, diagnostic ability, technical depth, certifications, independence, productivity, and overall contribution to the team.

Atlantic Motorcar uses a salary-based compensation structure rather than traditional flat rate, giving technicians predictable income while still maintaining clear expectations around quality, productivity, reliability, training, and follow-through.

Compensation is formally reviewed twice each year as your skills, responsibilities, and contribution grow.

*Benefits*

* Health insurance
* 401(k) with employer matching
* Paid time off
* PTO increases with tenure
* Paid floating birthday
* Quarterly and year-end bonus opportunities
* Up to $50 per month in wellness reimbursement
* $250 annual tool allowance
* Company-provided uniforms
* Dedicated employee break area
* Complimentary coffee, tea, water, energy drinks, and protein drinks
* Team lunches, cookouts, training events, and occasional off-site activities

*A place to keep getting better*

Atlantic Motorcar believes strong technicians should continue developing throughout their careers.

Team members participate in ongoing manufacturer-specific education, ASE training, technical courses, hands-on workshops, diagnostic case studies, and internal mentoring.

The company even operates its own dedicated training center and regularly shares technical education with other independent repair shops and technicians.

As Atlantic Motorcar continues to grow, future opportunities may include mentoring, technical leadership, shop foreman responsibilities, and other leadership roles.

More than another technician job

Atlantic Motorcar is looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career somewhere that respects the craft.

Somewhere you can earn well without living under flat-rate pressure.

Somewhere you can tackle genuinely challenging European diagnostics, have the right equipment available, work with experienced people, and still have evenings and weekends for your life outside the shop.

If that sounds like the kind of opportunity you’ve been looking for, we’d like to hear from you.

*Considering a move to Midcoast Maine?* We’re also open to speaking with experienced European technicians outside the immediate area who are interested in relocating.
