Duties and Responsibilities Student‑Athlete Development Assist Head Coach with training and skill development of student‑athletes. Provide technical skill instruction during practices. Conduct individual training sessions focused on skill development. Develop and execute practice plans to prepare the team physically and mentally for competition. Assist in match preparation, including strategy and daily practice execution. Prepare scouting reports on opponents. Monitor and assist rehabilitation of injured student‑athletes per guidance from Team Physicians and Sports Medicine staff. Coordinate with Sports Medicine and Strength & Conditioning staff on physical conditioning. Program Administrative and Fiscal Management Assist in directing, planning and organizing a competitive, fiscally sound program. Support travel coordination, equipment ordering, and completion of expense reports. NCAA Compliance Ensure program compliance with NCAA rules and regulations. Coordinate preparation and submission of NCAA compliance forms (practice logs, recruiting folders, official visit forms, etc.). Assist in monitoring academics to maintain NCAA eligibility and University standards. Recruiting Evaluate talent and recruit prospective student‑athletes who succeed academically and contribute positively to the program and community. Communicate via phone, email, etc., with prospective student‑athletes and parents under Head Coach direction. Plan and conduct scouting of prospective student‑athletes, determining recruiting events and evaluations. Assist with on‑campus official and unofficial visits per University and NCAA policies. Academics, Service, Marketing, Public Relations & Development Monitor academic progress of student‑athletes to ensure eligibility. Develop fundraising events within university and departmental guidelines. Design service events that give back to the community. Minimum Qualifications Formal Education Bachelor’s Degree required. Specific Job Knowledge Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Extensive knowledge of field hockey. Understanding of the university’s mission and student‑athlete philosophy. Minimum Work Experience At least 2 years working in a college and/or club field hockey program, preferably Division I, in a coaching or manager role. Division I playing experience preferred. Work Skills Excellent organizational and communication skills. Attention to detail and effective interaction with student‑athletes. Ability to evaluate prospects. Equipment Knowledge Proficiency with personal computer applications. Preferred Qualifications 3–5 years collegiate-level coaching experience or comparable professional experience. Coaching experience at Division 1 level. Division I playing experience preferable. Working Conditions Physical Requirements and Unusual Work Hours Lifting and carrying equipment, walking. Significant travel. Significant night and weekend work. Salary Grade 12: $47,500–$56,900. Salary determined by qualifications, budget availability, market data and internal equity. Job is exempt.
