This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Literacy based in the United States. The Director of Literacy will lead literacy strategy, curriculum implementation, and multilingual learner support across a network of public elementary schools. This leadership role focuses on strengthening reading, writing, oral language development, and equitable access to grade-level instruction for all students. Working closely with academic leaders, school principals, and regional teams, you will translate educational priorities into effective instructional practices and measurable student outcomes. You will guide curriculum adoption, analyze achievement and language proficiency data, and develop professional learning initiatives that empower educators. Through coaching, collaboration, and continuous improvement, you will help schools deliver high-quality literacy instruction and better support multilingual learners. This is an opportunity to influence education at scale while building educator capacity and advancing academic excellence in underserved communities.
\n Accountabilities Lead literacy and multilingual learner strategy: Establish the vision and direction for literacy instruction, language acquisition, and multilingual learner programming, ensuring alignment with academic standards, organizational priorities, and student achievement goals. Drive curriculum implementation: Support curriculum selection, adoption, customization, and rollout, including literacy resources and integrated English language development strategies that strengthen classroom instruction. Analyze performance and improve outcomes: Evaluate student achievement, language proficiency, classroom observations, and coaching data to identify instructional priorities, develop action plans, and monitor progress toward literacy and multilingual learner objectives. Develop educators and instructional leaders: Design and deliver professional development for teachers, school leaders, regional teams, and instructional staff, strengthening their expertise in literacy pedagogy, language development, and data-informed instruction. Provide coaching and instructional guidance: Conduct school visits, observe teaching practices, review curriculum implementation, and deliver actionable feedback to improve instructional quality and student learning. Build organizational capacity: Collaborate with academic leaders, principals, regional achievement teams, and external partners to share best practices, recommend instructional materials, and strengthen literacy and multilingual learner support across schools. Coordinate projects and team priorities: Lead team meetings, manage implementation plans and deadlines, align resources, and oversee progress across multiple instructional initiatives. Support team development and accountability: Coach colleagues, develop team members' content knowledge and implementation skills, and contribute to feedback, performance evaluation, and professional growth processes. Promote continuous improvement: Use evidence, stakeholder feedback, and classroom insights to refine instructional resources, strengthen program implementation, and advance consistent, high-quality educational outcomes. Requirements Bachelor's degree required. At least 3 years of experience coaching, managing, or developing adults to achieve strong instructional and student outcomes in a high-performing charter school, school district, or comparable educational setting. An additional 2–4 years of successful teaching experience, preferably in elementary education, with a demonstrated record of improving student achievement. Experience leading curriculum development, curriculum implementation, instructional projects, or school-based academic initiatives. Experience with Amplify CKLA is strongly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in literacy curriculum design and development, including a strong understanding of reading instruction, language development, and multilingual learner education. Experience designing and facilitating professional development for diverse audiences, including teachers, instructional coaches, school leaders, and regional teams. Strong understanding of effective literacy pedagogy, English language development, and strategies that help multilingual learners access grade-level content. Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines. Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex instructional concepts clearly and influence stakeholders across different teams. Proven ability to build collaborative relationships, provide constructive feedback, coach adults, and support continuous professional growth. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret student performance data and translate findings into practical instructional improvements. Willingness to travel regularly to school locations and regional sites, with travel potentially reaching 25% of working time. Benefits Annual salary: $120,000–$145,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Health and wellness: Comprehensive health and wellness benefits to support employees and their families. Retirement savings: Access to a 403(b) retirement plan. Flexible spending account: FSA options to help manage eligible healthcare and other expenses. Paid time off: Generous paid leave to support work-life balance and personal well-being. Professional impact: The opportunity to influence literacy instruction, strengthen educator effectiveness, and improve educational outcomes for elementary school students. Leadership and development: Opportunities to collaborate with academic leaders, develop instructional teams, and contribute to network-wide educational strategy. Mission-driven environment: A collaborative setting focused on educational equity, student potential, continuous improvement, and expanding access to high-quality public education. Remote work: A remote position with significant travel requirements, potentially up to 25% of the Director's time. Inclusive workplace: A commitment to equal employment opportunities and a professional environment that values diversity and respect. \n How Jobgether works:
