Middle/High School Paraprofessional (Grade 5-12)

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support students and educators within our district. The Paraprofessional will play a crucial role in fostering a positive learning environment, assisting with instructional activities, and providing support to students with diverse needs. This position requires a collaborative spirit and a commitment to enhancing the educational experience for all students. Responsibilities Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities. Provide one‑on‑one or small group support to students, ensuring they understand the material and remain engaged. Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed. Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment. Support students with special needs, including those with physical, emotional, or learning challenges. Assist with classroom management and discipline, promoting a respectful and inclusive atmosphere. Prepare instructional materials and resources as directed by the teacher. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students. Perform clerical tasks, such as grading papers and maintaining student records, as needed. Requirements A minimum of thirty (30) college credits from an accredited college or university. Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting student learning and development. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and administrators. Basic computer skills and proficiency in using educational technology. Knowledge of child development and educational practices is a plus. Must pass background checks and any other required screenings prior to employment.
