Job Description
Duties - Serves as 329 Medical Wing workflow manager to include workload received through email, meetings, the Task Management Tool (TMT) and various other correspondence. - Reviews, analyzes, processes and coordinates all incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, and other materials submitted for the Commander's review and signature. - Provide written communication using multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats such as graphics or tables, editing and reformatting electronic drafts and updating existing databases or spreadsheets. - Functions as the primary ATAAPS timekeeper. Reviews and ensures timecards for Wing civilian personnel are completed in a timely manner. - Travel/TDY arrangements: Independently makes travel arrangements in Defense Travel System(DTS) based on general information and guidance from the Commander. - Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization. Facilitates senior leader meetings and appointments that involve a wide range of Air Force, Department of Defense, Health Affairs, Congressional, and numerous external Health Care and business activities. - Work may require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Works with policies, regulations and precedents to perform duties, to ensure all actions are accomplished and if problems exist, to identify other alternatives as needed. (2) Works with standard processes and procedures for evaluating program efficiency to implement process improvements initiatives and programs; and (3) Works with duties, priorities, commitments, policies, and program goals of the organization sufficient to perform non-routine assignments, such as advising others on preparing correspondence, requirements for various reports, and interpreting new instructions and procedures; or locating and summarizing information from files and documents that requires recognizing which information is or is not relevant to the problem at hand. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in -grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of staff operations and practices related to the management of healthcare delivery and medical readiness to include policies, procedures, and operations. Knowledge on the organization and policies of the Air Force, Air Force Medical Service, Air Force Surgeon General, MAJCOM Surgeons and MTFs. 2. Knowledge of rules and guidelines in tasking, processing, performing quality control and appropriate records and archiving of executive correspondence in support of Air Force senior leadership. 3. Expert oral and written communication skills. Must effectively communicate both orally and in writing to gather information, present recommendations and gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy and diplomacy. Expert skill in grammar, writing, editing practices and style requirements in preparation of written and oral presentations. Good interpersonal and team building skills and ability to foster effective working relationships. 4. Knowledge of automated data processing functions, techniques, and capabilities to determine appropriate media for completing requirements. Knowledge of the fundamental capabilities and limitations of a variety of computers, computer network systems, and programs; as well as computer-related software and hardware in order to test, install, upgrade, configure, diagnose, and maintain proper functionality. 5. Knowledge and skill in preparing reports based on studies and analyses and providing metrics, reports and other information to senior leadership and external agencies. 6. Knowledge and skill exercising initiatives, judgement, problem solving, decision making, identifying problems; analyze data, make recommendations, plan, and organize work to meet deadlines.
