COUNSELOR (PART-TIME)

Clayton County Behavioral Health & Veteran’s Treatment Court Salary: 31,200.00 Job title: Part-Time Counselor Work Location: Jonesboro, GA Agency: Superior Court / Clayton County Behavioral Health Accountability and Veteran’s Treatment Court Contract (20 hours per week) – grant funded, non-benefit. Salary: 31,200.00 Monday through Friday (days & evenings) Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Facilitate evidence-based curriculums including, but not limited to: Seeking Safety, CBI-SA, MRT, Thinking for a Change and DBT Skills. Work with Lead Counselor to monitor participants’ progress throughout the program. Attend weekly treatment staffings and court hearings for Behavioral Health and Veteran’s Treatment Court. Maintain all supporting documentation for Behavioral Health and Veteran’s Treatment Court participants. Ensure that all participant notes are placed in Connexis (case management database) within 72 hours. Maintain confidentiality regarding all participants, conversations and referrals. Maintain compliance with all department/program policies and procedures. Participate in required Accountability Court Trainings. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Criminal Justice or related field. Mental Health and/or Substance Use Counseling preferred. A minimum of two years of experience working within the criminal justice system, mental health counseling or related field, direct experience working within an accountability court model, and experience with delivering evidence-based practices. Preference will be given to those who are certified in Thinking for a Change, CBI-SA (University of Cincinnati), and/or MRT. Skill Requirements: Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. The ability to show genuine empathy, positive regard and develop client-counselor rapport and trust. Effective conflict resolution and negotiations skills Effective stress and time-management skills Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Outlook, Internet, etc.) Sound work ethics, fairness and cultural sensitivity Group facilitation skills.
