Job Description Maintenance Manager As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the hotel's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe, comfortable, and well-presented environment for guests and employees. You will lead the maintenance team, oversee daily operations, manage preventative maintenance programmes, drive sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives, and ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements while supporting the overall operational success of the hotel. Key Responsibilities: Lead, motivate, and develop the maintenance team through effective coaching, training, and performance management. Plan and manage team rotas to ensure appropriate coverage across all shifts, weekends, and holiday periods. Oversee the completion of planned preventative maintenance schedules and reactive repairs. Ensure all hotel plant, machinery, equipment, and guest facilities are operating efficiently and safely. Manage contractor relationships, ensuring external works are completed to agreed standards and within budget. Monitor maintenance costs, control departmental expenditure, and support budget planning. Drive sustainability initiatives and energy-management programmes, identifying opportunities to reduce utility consumption, improve operational efficiency, and support environmental objectives. Monitor energy usage and implement measures to optimise performance across heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and water systems. Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, fire safety regulations, and company policies. Conduct regular property inspections, identifying maintenance needs and implementing corrective actions promptly. Support refurbishment projects, capital expenditure plans, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation, energy-monitoring data, and statutory certifications. Collaborate closely with all hotel departments to minimise operational disruption and maximise guest satisfaction. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and provide practical solutions to operational challenges. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to team development, sustainability, problem-solving, and maintaining high operational standards. Qualifications & Experience Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager or senior maintenance leadership role. Relevant qualification in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or a related field. Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety. Experience managing maintenance teams, including rota planning and staff development. Good understanding of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements. Experience managing contractors and supplier relationships. Strong budgeting, cost-control, and project management skills. Experience driving sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives. Proficiency in maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
