Quick Facts: Location: Portsmouth, VA Start Date: 10/05/2026 End Date: 09/30/2030 Shift: Full-time, Days; Mon-Fri, 40 hrs/week Hours/week: 40 Employment Type: Contract/Temporary Licensure/Certifications: MD/DO, Active U.S. medical license, DEA, BLS Experience: Minimum 1 year recent family practice Pay & Benefits: Hourly Pay Rate: $135.00 Pay Schedule: Weekly via direct deposit Benefits: Competitive pay packages Weekly pay schedule via direct deposit Robust referral bonus program 24/7 dedicated support team from VHS Licensure, certification, travel, and other reimbursements when applicable What You’ll Do: Provide comprehensive family medicine services at multiple clinical locations, including diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care Manage acute and chronic patient cases, ensuring appropriate follow-up and documentation Participate in team training, quality improvement initiatives, and performance enhancement activities Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with facility and regulatory standards Support patient education and health promotion efforts What You Need: Valid MD or DO license in the U.S. or Canada Current DEA and BLS certifications Minimum of one year recent experience in family practice Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, military healthcare setting Flexibility to work a schedule Monday–Friday with some flexibility for weekends as needed Willing to participate in ongoing training and team initiatives Nice to Have: Experience in military or federal healthcare environments Additional certifications in emergency medicine or specialty areas Bilingual skills or additional language proficiency Prior supervision or teaching experience in clinical settings About the Assignment: Join a highly respected team supporting Naval Medical Center Portsmouth and associated clinics, including Branch Health and Tricare Prime Clinics.
