Transplant Finance Specialist

The Transplant Finance Specialist is responsible for coordinating and clarifying the available financial resources for transplant patient care.

Responsibilities include:

• Completing the Medicare Time Study Cost Report on alternating weeks on a monthly basis.
• Attending committees and support groups as necessary.
• Being proficient in navigating OTTR.
• Performing patient interviewing and fact finding tasks.
• Determining the patient's financial responsibility and initiating the collection process.
• Preparing and ensuring proper documentation of the patient's account package.
• Facilitating pre-certification and authorizations for designated payors.
• Staying abreast of new health care trends and maintaining knowledge of various payors and third party funding.
• Maintaining patient appointment logs and productivity reports.
• Interacting with hospital affiliated agencies and all County, State and Federal Agencies.
• Responding to billing inquiries and performing charge entry, patient check in and check out.
• Assisting in acquiring the necessary referrals and authorizations.
• Demonstrating behaviors of service excellence and CARE values.

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience. High School diploma is required. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.

Physical Requirements - Job function is sedentary in nature and requires sitting for extended periods of time. Function may require frequent standing or walking. Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Jobs in this group are required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: extended use of computers, preparing and analyzing data and analytics, and other components of a typical office environment.
