Teaching Assistant Professor - Psychology

Position Overview The Department of Psychology, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking a non‑tenure track Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor with a Ph.D. in Psychology (Open Specialty). The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for high quality, student‑centered instruction in undergraduate psychology courses. Depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise, the faculty member may also teach selected graduate level courses in the MS in Health Psychology and the Ph.D. in Applied Psychology. Responsibilities Faculty in this role are expected to make strong contributions to teaching excellence, student advising and mentoring, curriculum development, and program assessment, and to participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate: (i) a strong commitment to effective and inclusive teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels; (ii) use of evidence‑based and contemporary pedagogical practices; (iii) experience advising and mentoring students, including support for applied or independent student projects as appropriate; and (iv) engagement in service activities that support departmental, college, and university missions. While scholarly or professional activity is valued, research productivity and external funding are not primary expectations for this position. Qualifications Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related psychology sub‑discipline at the time of appointment. Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting and enhancing inclusiveness and collaboration in alignment with the university’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing a diverse environment.
