TITLE: Senior Planning Analyst

LOCATION: West Michigan

SUMMARY: Management Business Solutions (MBS) is seeking a Senior Planning Analyst for a contract opportunity supporting commercial corridor analysis, transportation and land-use planning, data analysis, and community engagement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have experience evaluating transportation infrastructure and land-use patterns, analyzing commercial development conditions, organizing data into practical tracking tools, and collaborating with multidisciplinary planning teams. This individual will also help prepare data and visual materials to support community outreach and planning-related communication efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct research and analysis of selected commercial corridors, focusing on transportation infrastructure, land use, and commercial, industrial, and retail development conditions to evaluate existing conditions and support planning initiatives.
• Collect, organize, and analyze existing data to help develop reports, scorecards, tracking tools, and other resources that support corridor assessment and informed planning decisions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and project stakeholders to coordinate data, integrate findings, and support long-range transportation planning initiatives.
• Assist in preparing maps, graphics, reports, and other communication materials to present planning-related information and support community outreach and engagement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in urban planning, transportation planning, community development, or a related field.
• Experience evaluating transportation infrastructure, land-use patterns, and commercial or retail development conditions.
• Experience analyzing datasets and translating findings into practical planning assessments, recommendations, reports, or tracking tools.
• Ability to coordinate information and findings across multidisciplinary planning teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project coordination skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain planning-related findings to nontechnical audiences.
• Experience preparing maps, charts, graphics, or presentations to communicate technical information to stakeholders is beneficial.
• Experience with GIS, spatial data analysis, or data visualization is preferred.
• Public-sector planning or community engagement experience is a plus.
• AICP certification or an advanced degree in planning or a related field is a plus.
