Job Description
Lead detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare comprehensive cost estimates for commercial projects. Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP budgets. Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier bids. Maintain and strengthen relationships with NYC-area subcontractors and vendors. Identify scope gaps, risks, and cost-saving opportunities during preconstruction. Collaborate closely with project management, operations, and leadership teams. Participate in client and architect meetings to support budgeting and value engineering. Prepare bid packages, clarifications, and scopes of work. Track historical cost data and continuously refine pricing accuracy. Assist with project buyout, contract reviews, and change order pricing as needed.
The Successful Applicant
8+ years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor. Strong understanding of NYC commercial construction practices and local market conditions. Proven experience estimating corporate interiors, retail, hospitality, or similar commercial projects. Expert-level knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Sage, Destini, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar). Advanced Excel skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
