Hours: 8:00 am-5:00 pm Monday-Friday, and 8:00 am-12:00 pm on Saturday. The Phlebotomist provides expert phlebotomy services and demonstrates excellent customer service and communication skills. The role requires functioning as part of a highly effective team that consistently puts patients first. Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections according to age-related standards and departmental policies. Apply the AIDET model and optimize patient safety to reduce errors. Receive and review physician orders, ensure all required information is present, and enter accurate lab test orders. Communicate and provide appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care. Process specimens promptly to maintain stability and integrity: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and packaging for transport. Record refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA results; report concerns via the corrective action log. Understand equipment operation and maintenance; follow up on manifest logs and communicate draw/charge/results status. Alert laboratory or physician to specimen procurement issues. Maintain a safe work environment, adhere to biohazard waste procedures, and ensure proper storage and pickup of biohazardous waste. Perform lab-related clerical duties: order entry, verification of result receipt, patient information retrieval, supply inventory management, and equipment sanitation. Use department resources efficiently; participate in cost-reduction and process-streamlining efforts. Complete continuing education and competency assessments as required. Demonstrate teamwork, assist colleagues professionally. Apply critical thinking, sound decision-making, and judgment to resolve challenging situations. Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required High school diploma or equivalent. Phlebotomy certification from a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school, or at least one year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting, or CMA certification. Qualifications: Preferred Experience performing phlebotomy on a broad range of patient types. Experience with processing lab specimens, transferring specimens, and operating a centrifuge. Familiarity with medical EMR systems. Knowledge of medical terminology.
