Mental Wellness Program Manager

Description The Mental Wellness Program Manager leads the African American Male Wellness Agency's mental wellness portfolio, with Real Men Real Talk as the flagship program. The position owns the Columbus RMRT calendar from planning through reporting, supervises the Mental Wellness Program Coordinator, manages facilitators and Engagement Coaches, holds the program budget and grant deliverables, and builds the clinical and community partnerships that connect Black men to culturally responsive care. The role also supports RMRT planning and engagement in other markets by sharing curriculum, training, and what has worked in Columbus. This position reports to Kendall White, Director of Mental Wellness. Key Responsibilities: Program Leadership: Own the Columbus RMRT calendar and annual work plan, set session themes and goals, and make sure each monthly session happens on schedule and meets attendance and quality targets. Supervision and Staff Development: Supervise the Mental Wellness Program Coordinator, set priorities and performance expectations, hold regular check-ins, and coach staff and facilitators toward stronger delivery. Facilitator and Engagement Coach Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate facilitators and Engagement Coaches, and hold a consistent facilitation standard across sessions. Multi-Market RMRT Support: Support RMRT planning and engagement in other cities by sharing curriculum, training materials, and session formats, and by advising local coordinators on recruitment, venues, and partnerships. Clinical Partnerships and Referral Pathways: Establish and maintain agreements with therapists, behavioral health organizations, and screening partners including APDS, and keep referral pathways current so participants can be connected to care quickly. Crisis Protocol and Risk Management: Maintain written escalation and crisis response protocols, train staff and facilitators on them, and review incidents so the response improves. Budget Oversight: Manage the mental wellness program budget, monitor expenditures, approve facilitator and vendor invoices, and coordinate budget revisions as funding periods change. Grant Management and Compliance: Manage mental wellness grant deliverables and timelines, prepare monthly, quarterly, mid-year, and final reports, and keep activity and documentation aligned with funder and Agency requirements. Summit and Event Leadership: Lead planning for the annual Real Men Real Talk Mental Wellness Summit, including program design, speakers, breakout sessions, screening partners, vendors, and volunteer staffing. Data and Evaluation: Track attendance, screenings, referrals, follow-up, and participant outcomes, analyze trends, and use what the data shows to adjust programming and support future funding requests. Stakeholder Engagement and Representation: Represent the Agency with funders, health systems, public health departments, faith leaders, employers, and community partners, and speak publicly about Black men's mental health. Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree required in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field. Master's Degree or clinical licensure preferred. Experience: 4-6 years in community mental health, behavioral health, or nonprofit program management, including at least one year supervising staff or leading a team of facilitators. Certification: Mental Health First Aid or QPR instructor certification preferred. Candidates without it should be willing to obtain it within the first year. Skills: Program and budget management, grant reporting, partnership development, and staff supervision, along with the ability to build trust with Black men who are reluctant to talk about mental health. Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, registration platforms, and reporting tools; Quickbase experience preferred. Schedule/Travel: Ability and willingness to travel locally and out of state for sessions, summits, trainings, and market support, and to work evenings or weekends. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Key Competencies: Leadership: Ability to set direction for the program, develop staff, and get consistent delivery from facilitators and partners. Sound Judgment: Ability to stay calm when a participant is in distress, make the call on escalation, and support staff through difficult sessions. Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive participant information and to model the confidentiality the program depends on. Relationship-Building: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to sustain partnerships across clinical, funder, faith, corporate, and grassroots sectors. Operational Excellence: Detail oriented with the ability to manage calendars, budgets, deliverables, and compliance across concurrent grant periods.
