Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Location

Peoria, IL

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit managing diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy cases
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Continuously monitor, read, and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitoring systems in collaboration with monitor technicians
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as indicated
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on nights, collaborating with PCTs and a 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor
• Float to other general medical units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Competency in all basic nursing skills applicable to an adult medical-surgical/telemetry setting
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; position is based on a drug-free campus

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current ACLS certification
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardio thoracic, or step-down unit setting
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations
