Job Description
Exciting Opportunity for Night Shift RN in Med/Surg Ortho!


- Shift : 12-hour nights (0630-1900)
- Unit : Med/Surg Ortho
- Number of Beds : 32
- Patient Ratios : 1:5
- Common Diagnoses : Medical/Surgical with a focus on post-op cancer interventions (prostatectomy, mastectomy, etc.)
- Required Certifications : BLS
- Experience/Skills Needed :
- Excellent communication
- Accurate documentation
- Timeliness
- Patient-centered care
- Titration Requirements :
- RNs are required to titrate drips (heparin, lidocaine, TPN gtt)
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor : Yes
- Nurse Aids on Unit : Available, ratios are sometimes dependent on sitter needs (1:15)
- RT Equipment : Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.
- Telemetry : Central monitoring, RNs read strips
- Weekend Requirement : Every 3rd weekend (6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period)
- Holiday Requirement : Rotating
- Call/Standby Requirement : No
- Floating Requirements : Rare, only to other medical/surgical units
- Scrub Color/Dress Code : Navy
- Orientation : Unit/department specific
- Cancellation Policy : Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, and 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
- Charting System : EPIC
- BSN Required : Yes
- License to Submit : Yes
