As an Accounting Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting our Accounting and Finance teams, working on meaningful projects, and contributing to the daily operations of a high-performing department. You will learn the ins and outs of accounting processes, financial reporting, and systems in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. This internship is designed to prepare you for a successful career in Accounting or Finance, while providing exposure to the broader C Spire business. This position is for a Summer Internship in 2026, located at our Corporate office in Ridgeland, MS. Responsibilities Provide support to the Accounting and Finance departments through assigned projects and daily tasks. Perform and complete assignments given by your Manager with accuracy and timeliness. Assist with accounting functions such as reconciliations, reporting, and data entry. Participate in financial analysis and review of departmental processes. Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats across departments. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions around financial performance and processes. Collaborate with other interns in the summer internship program on cross-functional projects. Perform additional duties as assigned. In addition to that, we require: Must be pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance. Rising college junior, senior, or graduate student actively enrolled and in good standing at an accredited college or university. Minimum coursework for Accounting majors: Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Business Computer Systems, Accounting Systems I, Intermediate Accounting I. Minimum coursework for Finance majors: Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Management Information Systems, Financial Systems, Intermediate Financial Management, Financial Markets. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have housing in Jackson, MS, or Birmingham, AL. We will give special consideration to candidates who have: Prior internship or work experience in Accounting or Finance. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
