Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented culinary professional to join our team and help provide nutritious, appealing meals for residents in a caring long-term care environment. The ideal candidate takes pride in preparing food that supports health, comfort, and quality of life, while maintaining high standards for cleanliness, safety, and service.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, dietary guidelines, and resident needs.
Follow recipes and portion standards to ensure consistency, quality, and proper nutrition.
Accommodate special diets, texture modifications, and allergen restrictions as directed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
Monitor food temperatures, storage practices, and food safety procedures.
Assist with food prep, plating, serving, and timely meal delivery.
Inspect ingredients and supplies for freshness, quality, and proper rotation.
Work collaboratively with dietary staff, nursing staff, and management to meet resident needs.
Clean and sanitize equipment, surfaces, and work areas in accordance with facility standards.
Support inventory control and report supply needs or equipment concerns as appropriate.

Qualifications

Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or high-volume food service setting preferred.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe handling practices.
Ability to follow menus, recipes, and dietary instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality meals.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and meet scheduled meal times.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine kitchen tasks.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.

Preferred Attributes

Experience preparing meals for older adults or individuals with specialized dietary needs.
Familiarity with therapeutic diets and texture-modified meal preparation.
A caring, respectful approach to serving residents and supporting their well-being.
