Director of Operations

Recommended Compensation: $160,000-$185,000 base + performance-based incentive Position Overview Our client is seeking a high-impact Director of Operations to drive growth, financial performance, operational efficiency, and consistent execution across a growing multi-site specialty healthcare organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will serve as a senior operational partner responsible for translating organizational strategy into measurable business results. The Director will work closely with physicians, practice leaders, and functional teams to improve performance, strengthen accountability, standardize operations, and build the infrastructure needed to support continued expansion. This is a hands-on leadership position for an operator who understands the business mechanics of a physician-practice MSO. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience improving revenue, profitability, provider productivity, patient access, labor efficiency, and operational performance across multiple locations. Key Responsibilities Own operational performance across assigned practices, markets, and service lines, with accountability for growth, profitability, efficiency, and execution. Establish and manage performance expectations across revenue, operating margin, provider productivity, patient access, schedule utilization, labor efficiency, staffing, throughput, and other key operating indicators. Partner with Finance and executive leadership on budgets, forecasts, operating plans, expense management, and performance improvement initiatives. Identify underperforming locations, providers, workflows, and service lines and implement measurable corrective action plans. Develop operating scorecards and reporting disciplines that create visibility, accountability, and consistent follow-through across the organization. Accelerate Growth Partner directly with the CEO and physician leadership to identify and execute opportunities for organic growth across existing markets. Improve provider capacity, scheduling utilization, patient access, referral conversion, and clinic throughput to support same-store growth. Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and ramp-up to accelerate productivity and return on organizational investment. Evaluate opportunities involving new locations, service-line expansion, ancillary services, physician affiliations, and other growth initiatives. Build Scalable Operations Standardize workflows, staffing models, management practices, reporting, policies, and operating procedures across multiple locations. Identify inefficiencies and redesign processes to improve patient experience, employee productivity, service delivery, and financial results. Establish repeatable operating models capable of supporting additional providers, locations, markets, and service lines. Lead implementation of enterprise initiatives, technology, systems, and process improvements across the field organization. Strengthen Physician Partnership Develop trusted working relationships with physicians and advanced practice providers across the organization. Use financial and operating data to facilitate productive conversations around provider performance, scheduling, staffing, patient access, productivity, and growth. Balance clinical priorities, physician autonomy, patient experience, and business performance while maintaining alignment with organizational objectives. Serve as a senior operational resource to providers when addressing practice-level barriers, opportunities, and performance issues. Lead Through Operational Leaders Lead, coach, and develop Practice Managers and other operational leaders while establishing clear expectations and accountability for results. Build an operating cadence of performance reviews, site visits, leadership meetings, scorecards, and action planning. Strengthen management capability across the organization through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development. Create a culture where leaders understand their numbers, address issues quickly, and take ownership of practice performance. Support Expansion & Integration Provide operational leadership for new practice openings, provider additions, market expansion, acquisitions, affiliations, and integrations. Establish repeatable processes for onboarding new locations and providers into A&ENT's operating model. Coordinate cross-functional execution involving Finance, Human Resources, Revenue Cycle, Credentialing, Marketing, IT, Compliance, and other centralized functions. Ensure growth initiatives transition effectively from planning into sustainable day-to-day operations. Qualifications Required Experience 8+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership with significant responsibility in a multi-site physician-practice, specialty healthcare, or MSO environment. Demonstrated operating experience within an MSO or comparable multi-site physician-practice organization. Proven success driving measurable growth and operational improvement across multiple healthcare locations. Strong financial acumen with direct experience managing P&L performance, budgets, forecasts, productivity, staffing, and operational KPIs. Demonstrated ability to identify performance gaps and execute initiatives that improve revenue, profitability, labor efficiency, provider productivity, patient access, or other measurable business outcomes. Experience leading Practice Managers, regional leaders, or comparable multi-site operational teams. Strong record of partnering directly with physicians and influencing change within physician-led environments. Ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving, growth-oriented organization with significant accountability and limited need for day-to-day direction. Ability to travel up to 40% based on operational and business needs. Strongly Preferred Direct operational leadership experience within allergy, ENT, audiology, or another specialty physician-practice platform. Experience within a private equity-backed healthcare organization. Experience with specialty practices involving ancillary services and multiple revenue streams. Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, new clinic openings, provider expansion, or multi-market growth. Experience operating across multiple geographic markets or states. Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, finance, operations, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent leadership experience will be considered. What Success Looks Like During the first year, the Director of Operations will increase visibility into practice-level performance, establish stronger operating discipline and accountability, identify and execute meaningful growth and efficiency opportunities, strengthen physician and operational leadership alignment, standardize critical processes, and build an operating infrastructure capable of supporting continued expansion. This individual should become a trusted operational partner to the CEO, capable of moving between strategy, financial performance, physician relationships, and field execution while ensuring priorities turn into measurable results. Location & Travel This is a hybrid leadership role based in The Woodlands, Texas , requiring regular presence at the corporate office and practice locations. This is not a remote position. Travel of up to 40% should be expected based on organizational and operational needs.
