Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Operating Room position requiring Trauma Level I experience and a minimum of 2-3 years of OR nursing experience.

Job Details

• Work in the Operating Room department of an acute care hospital with 277 staffed beds,
• 13-week contract with night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:45-7:15), with variable start times of 7:00 or 9:00 also possible,
• Weekend shifts required,
• May be required to cover one additional night shift during the contract as needed,
• On-call required, with call distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks (up to 6-8 shifts within that period, including nights, evenings, and weekends),
• Floating required between like units and potentially to nearby affiliate/sister facilities,
• Uses Epic charting system,
• OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided,
• Free parking available,

Job Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand (pending licenses not accepted),
• BLS certification required,
• Minimum 2-3 years of Operating Room nursing experience required,
• Trauma Level I experience required,
• Trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic surgical experience required due to facility's trauma status,
• Prior travel nursing experience required,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Experience with a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, orthopedics/spine, plastics, bariatrics, and thoracic procedures,
• Familiarity with OR equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and cell saver,
• Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia procedures,
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting,

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties including trauma, vascular, neuro, orthopedic, general surgery, and more,
• Support surgical procedures using specialized equipment and adhere to safety protocols such as Universal Protocol (time out) procedures,
• Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's,
• RTO must be submitted with application and minimal RTO is preferred,
• Local candidates accepted,
• A 50-mile radius rule applies for local candidate eligibility,
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility,
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position,
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
