Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 6 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: CRRT trained Experience in high acuity settings Willingness to float between units Flexibility on scheduling Description: RN positions are available in a busy, high acuity unit. Candidates must be flexible and open to floating as needed. RNs will work with patients experiencing heart and lung transplants, LVAD cases, and valve surgeries. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 1:2, with occasional 1:1 scenarios. All vasoactive drips for cardiac patients will be titrated by RNs. There is a charge RN present on the unit who will manage patients most of the time. RT is available in the ICU 24/7 and is assigned to the unit. RNs will be responsible for hardwire monitoring. There is a requirement for weekend and holiday shifts. Floating will be based on competency, and RNs will be the first to float out when necessary. Devices commonly seen in this unit include LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP. Charting will be done using an electronic system. This unit has a diverse caseload requiring strong critical care skills. Successful placements typically involve candidates with previous travel experience in busy hospital settings.
