Accounting Specialist - DC - Capital Hill area

Overview Growing national firm seeking a transactional accounting professional to join the team. The Accountant will support accounts payable, billing, and other accounting duties within a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment. Responsibilities Process accounts payable and expense reimbursements. Serve as a key accounting resource and business partner in the assigned office. Ensure the accuracy and timely distribution of client bills. Respond to requests and questions from attorneys, vendors, and clients. Ensure compliance with company billing policies and procedures. Review accounting e‑mail requests and respond within established timeframes. Maintain accounting reports, spreadsheets, and files as assigned. Oversee the preparation, tracking, and payment of tax liabilities. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and vendor deposit reconciliations. Handle special projects, analysis, and other departmental duties as assigned. Provide support and backup for other accounting team members across the firm. Qualifications Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize numerous tasks. Ability to analyze client billing histories and other basic financial data. Proficiency with spreadsheet applications, including Excel. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and follow instructions from internal leadership and staff. Strong numeric and financial aptitude. Ability to maintain cordial, collaborative, and productive work relationships. 2+ years of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable and Payroll experience preferred; bachelor’s or associate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or similar (will consider no degree with additional years of experience); excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills; tech savvy across Excel and ERP platforms; team‑oriented with a desire to learn and grow.
