Patient Coordinator - PRN

Responsibilities The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. They ensure documentation and patient records are prepared and organized, and patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment. Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone. Performs patient registration in various systems. Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner. Collects monies for time‑of‑service patient responsibility. Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization. Preliminary screen patients prior to procedures, including medical history. Transports patients to and from the exam room and assists with transfer on/off the exam table. Provides preliminary and post‑procedure instructions to patients. In the mobile setting, assists in preparing the unit for transport. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Orders supplies and ensures the work area is properly stocked. Ensures accuracy of patient records and schedules patient appointments. Assists the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to patients, physicians or contracted customers. Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent experience required. For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire. For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus. Valid state driver's license required. Ability to work at several locations required. Strong customer service skills. Organizational and multi‑tasking skills. Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs. Local travel may be required to support multiple sites. COVID‑19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications Six months customer service or related experience and/or training. Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. Physical Requirements May be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit. May be exposed to a strong magnetic field or radioactive material. May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease and environmental hazards such as exposure to noise, and travel. More than 50% of the time: Sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs; see, speak and hear to be able to communicate with patients. Less than 50% of the time: Stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
