An EIT Certification is desirable.JOB SUMMARYThe Engineer Design contractor position assists in the planning, design, and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects.The right candidate must be a self-starter, excellent communicator, critical thinker and able to make sound decisions.The Engineer 1 position requires 0-3 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree with a focus in Mechanical, Civil or General engineering experience.Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems.Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packagesJOB RESPONSIBILITIESCreating a safe work environment by putting safety firstUnderstand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenanceUnderstanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenanceUnderstanding design practices and work processesUsing all software applications used in design, understanding industry and Company design standardsSupporting design standard and criteria development for the systemSupporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operationsEstimating material for projectsTransmitting construction packagesSupporting specifications.SKILLSETS and EXPERTISEIntroductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills, limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisorBasic discipline software knowledge, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.As our Engineer in the design group, a typical day might include:Working on gas storage or gas fueling station assignmentsPerforming assignments involving the design of components or functionality of pipeline products Involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.
