Qualifications Education/Certification: High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to get certified within 30 days of being hired Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents Ability to work with groups of children in a positive manner Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Effective organizational and communication skills Ability to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patience Experience: Pre‑Service Training Certificate or documented childcare experience Major Responsibilities and Duties Plan and supervise a 30‑minute homework period and snack time. Use effective teaching strategies to address different learning styles and individual student needs. Implement classroom management strategies and enforce the school discipline plan. Know and comply with DFPS minimum standards and all state/district regulations. Maintain a respectful and positive environment that supports student growth and cooperation. Keep accurate student records, including attendance, discipline, and academic information. Supervise students closely, knowing each child’s name, age, abilities, and location at all times. Follow state sanitation guidelines, including child hygiene and facility cleaning. Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of program equipment. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance. Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel. Use professional information discreetly and judiciously. Support and follow administrative and Board policy. Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way. Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons. Perform other duties as assigned.
