Job Description Job Description Medical Assistant Location: San Antonio, TX Pay Rate: $24.34/hour Contract Dates: September 21, 2026 - September 20, 2027 Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Interview: In-person Travel: Potentially daily; travel will be within the workday as needed Position Overview We are seeking a qualified and patient-focused Medical Assistant to support clinical operations in a San Antonio healthcare setting. The Medical Assistant will provide hands-on clinical and administrative support, interact directly with patients, and assist healthcare providers with daily patient-care activities. The ideal candidate will have previous Medical Assistant experience, strong customer-service skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a variety of clinical, administrative, and patient-support functions, including: * Perform and document routine patient assessments, including obtaining and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, height, weight, and other relevant measurements. * Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate clinical procedures, including the ability to recognize and appropriately respond to relevant EKG/ECG information and follow established protocols for obtaining and documenting EKGs. * Assist healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, treatments, and other patient-care activities within the Medical Assistant's training and authorized scope of practice. * Prepare examination rooms, equipment, supplies, and patients for scheduled clinical services. * Accurately document patient information, clinical observations, vital signs, services performed, and other required information in the appropriate medical record system. * Apply knowledge of medical terminology, common precautions, infection-control practices, and occupational exposure risks, including bloodborne pathogens. * Follow established safety, infection-prevention, exposure-control, and workplace procedures. * Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy requirements, including HIPAA. * Follow applicable state and federal healthcare regulations and Medical Assistant scope-of-practice requirements. * Follow internal company and department protocols, policies, procedures, workflows, and quality standards. * Utilize electronic health record/electronic medical record (EHR/EMR) systems and other computer applications to access, enter, update, and retrieve patient information. * Assist with scheduling, appointment management, practice-management functions, records management, and other administrative workflows as assigned. * Support documentation, claims, billing-related processes, and other administrative activities as appropriate to the role. * Communicate medical terminology and clinical information to patients and customers in a clear, concise, professional, and understandable manner. * Assess patient/customer understanding by asking appropriate questions and identifying when additional explanation or clarification is needed. * Provide patients with appropriate information regarding available clinical and supportive services, including medical, dietary, transportation, or other resources when applicable. * Escalate patient questions, concerns, abnormal findings, or situations outside the Medical Assistant's scope of practice to the appropriate healthcare professional. * Maintain accurate, organized, and timely records and documentation. * Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and excellent customer service during all patient interactions. * Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, administrative personnel, and other members of the healthcare team. * Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and appropriately stocked clinical work environment. * Travel potentially on a daily basis as required by operational needs. Travel will not require working at multiple locations during the same shift. * Perform other clinical and administrative duties consistent with the position and assigned responsibilities. Required Qualifications * Current Medical Assistant certification . * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. * Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred. * Demonstrated understanding of basic medical procedures and clinical workflows. * Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology and healthcare practices. * Knowledge of appropriate precautions, infection control, and bloodborne pathogen/exposure risks. * Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements. * Understanding of applicable state and federal healthcare regulations and Medical Assistant scope of practice. * Ability to follow company-specific protocols, policies, procedures, and workflows. * Demonstrated computer proficiency, including familiarity with: * Microsoft Word * Microsoft Excel * Microsoft PowerPoint * Microsoft Outlook * EHR/EMR systems * Scheduling systems * Practice-management systems * Records-management systems * Strong customer-service and interpersonal communication skills. * Ability to communicate medical information clearly and appropriately to patients. * Ability to assess patient understanding and determine when additional explanation or assistance is needed. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive patient information. * Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications * Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred. * Previous professional Medical Assistant experience. * Experience working with EHR/EMR systems. * Experience obtaining vital signs and assisting with clinical procedures. * Experience performing or assisting with EKG/ECG procedures. * Experience working directly with patients in a clinical or healthcare environment. * Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills. Schedule Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM No weekend schedule is indicated for this position. Work Environment & Travel The position is based in San Antonio, Texas . * Potentially daily travel may be required based on operational needs. * Employees will not be required to travel to multiple locations within the same work shift. * This position does not involve providing care in patients' homes.
