Job Description
The Product Engineer architects and designs their digital products using modern tools, technologies, frameworks, and systems. They apply a systematic application of scientific and technological knowledge, methods, and experience to the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of software. They own and manage running their application in production and ultimately becomes accountable for the success of their digital products through achieving KPIs. • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in inceptions and iteration planning meetings, infusing backlogs with technical input working in close partnership with the product manager.
• Leads and participates in daily sites, cross-site, and product team standups.
• Leads and participates in retrospectives, demonstrating and encouraging each participant to provide feedback with empathy.
• Participate in high-level and low-level component and system designs.
• Participate in performance improvements and tech review meetings.
• Partners in collaboration and strategy alignment across product portfolios (cross-product) in partnership with product managers, other peers and key stakeholders.
• Serves as an expert on one or more business domain and a distinguished advocate of multiple technology stacks and shares that knowledge across organizations.
• Coaches the team and leads daily practices of using paired programming and test-driven development in writing software and building products.
• Establishes continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices.
• Provides support for software products in user environments.
• TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Experience and knowledge in developing REST APIs using Java Spring boot, including tooling for documentation (swagger, REST-docs, OpenAI spec), versioning, service discovery/registration, testing and management; experience using API gateway patterns.
• Hands on experience and accountability architecting, designing, implementing, and delivering large scale distributed systems and/or applications for the cloud, including MicroServices architectures.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing workflows using BPMN 2.0 models and ability to extend Flowable using Java APIs, service tasks, custom logic, and backend integrations
• Experience in backend development design and implementation, database (MongoDB, caching) and Kafka messaging.
• Deep expertise in event-driven architectures (Kafka-first), asynchronous workflows, and distributed design patterns (Saga, eventual consistency, idempotency)
• Expertise in secure system design, including OAuth/OpenID/SAML, API security, and mitigating AI-specific risks (prompt injection, data leakage)
• Strong command over CI/CD, DevOps, and platform engineering, including automated pipelines, resilience patterns, and developer platform (IDP) enablement
• Working experience with Python for AI/ML workflows and automation pipelines
• Knowledge and experience using distributed version control systems (git), artifact management systems, build and packaging systems (maven, gradle, npm, artifactory) and Jenkins or similar Continuous Integration tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native ecosystems, including service mesh and SRE practices (resiliency, fault tolerance, chaos engineering)
• Advanced skills in observability and performance engineering (OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, metrics/logging strategy, RCA at scale)
• Experience working with Generative AI APIs and/or open-source models.
• Advanced experience building production-grade AI platforms (not just PoCs), including LM orchestration, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent systems (LangGraph/AutoGen)
• Strong grounding in LLMOps/MLOps, including model lifecycle, prompt/version management, monitoring, and evaluation at scale
• Hands-on with advanced RAG architectures (hybrid search, reranking, chunking, evaluation frameworks) and vector databases / embeddings-based retrieval
• Experience on developing solutions for various stages in the Insurance Lifecycle Journeys.
• Proven track record designing and delivering large-scale, cloud-native microservices platforms with high throughput and low latency
• Experience of working in an Agile environment or paired programming/engineering model.
• Experience with the test-driven approach and writing unit tests for front to back coverage.
• Experience with problem-solving and analyzing performance bottlenecks.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field
