Job Description Medical Laboratory Scientist II - Red Bank, NJ, Monday to Friday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with rotational weekends Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist II in Red Bank, NJ. This role is a hospital-based position at Riverview. Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring the exercise of independent judgement and responsibility in those specialties in which they are qualified by education, training and experience. Pay range Pay range: $32.00 - $50.73 per hour. Employee may be eligible to receive a shift differential of 10% on second shift and 15% on third shift. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education and certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus. Responsibilities Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot applicable instruments/procedures. Provide support in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, instrument & equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement and special projects. Perform and report analytical tests per SOP, ensuring quality control requirements are met. Support and comply with laboratory policies for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping. Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time of results including statistics or critical results to clients. Verify reagents and test kits for receipt, expiration, and opening dates. Perform and document QC analysis, make quality control decisions regarding assay or test disposition. Inform supervisory personnel of any problems affecting test procedures. Report deviations from standard or accepted testing procedures and cooperate with investigations. Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review and interpretation. Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, sanitary condition. Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate. Assist supervisor with training other laboratory personnel. Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and laboratory safety requirements. Use personal protective equipment, engineering controls and/or work practice controls as directed. Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel, if applicable. Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections, if needed. Assume lead responsibilities in absence of a supervisor, if qualified and delegated. Other duties as assigned. This is not an exhaustive list. Qualifications One year full-time experience or training in high complexity clinical laboratory testing. Preferred: Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with most current year in present department. Physical and Mental Requirements Lifting and carrying: 1-10 lbs frequently; 11-25 lbs occasionally; 36-50 lbs seldom; >50 lbs without assistance. Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods. Frequent walking and/or standing. Use a variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments, requiring significant manual dexterity. Knowledge Comprehensive theoretical and operational knowledge in designated specialty. Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures. B.S./B.A. in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology, or associate degree in Laboratory Science/Medical Technology; or previously qualified under 42 CFR 493.1433. Foreign educated candidates must provide credential evaluation from IERF; U.S. candidates must provide transcript. Additional state specific requirements may apply. Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry (Preferred). Licenses and Certifications ASCP Certification (Preferred).
