Research Technician

The Holmes Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Wesleyan University seeks a full-time Research Technician. Reporting to the Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, the Research Technician will join an NIH-funded research group dedicated to examining fundamental properties of chromatin structure using the budding yeast model system. Responsibilities Execute research projects using standard techniques in molecular genetics (PCR, DNA extractions, yeast and bacterial transformations, gel electrophoresis, western blots) Maintain a detailed lab notebook documenting all experimental work Lab management, including inventory and ordering Supervision of undergraduate work‑study students Other duties as assigned This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to gain hands‑on research experience, learn new methods, publish and present research, and join a community of scientists in the life sciences at Wesleyan University. This is an on‑campus position. Funding for this position has been approved for 2 years. Minimum Qualifications B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Experience conducting wet‑bench research in molecular biology or molecular genetics. Demonstrated strong organization and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently. Commitment to working within a diverse environment and ability to build effective collaborative relationships. Preferred Qualifications Experience in bioinformatic analysis or biochemistry.
