Employment + Labor Litigation Associate Attorney

Locations: Los Angeles, CA; Palo Alto, CA; San Francisco, CA; Seattle, WA; Washington, DC

Direct Counsel is seeking an  Employment + Labor Litigation Associate Attorney to join a premier Am Law firm with a nationally recognized employment and labor practice. The ideal candidate will have 4–6 years of experience with litigation at the core of their practice and strong academic credentials.

Responsibilities:

• Advise clients on day-to-day employment law compliance issues.

• Litigate trade secret and employee mobility matters, whistleblower claims (including SOX and Dodd-Frank), wrongful termination, employment discrimination and harassment, and pay disputes.

• Defend companies in complex state and federal employment litigation, including wage and hour, discrimination, and pay equity class, collective, and representative actions.

• Conduct workplace investigations involving senior executives and other employees.

• Perform employment law due diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions, financings, and other corporate transactions.

• Negotiate executive employment, separation, and related agreements.

• Manage litigation matters on a day-to-day basis with limited supervision.

• Draft and argue substantive briefs and motions.

• Take and defend depositions with limited supervision.

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications:

• 4–6 years of relevant employment and labor litigation experience.

• Strong academic credentials.

• Significant experience handling employment litigation and advising clients on employment law matters.

• Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, and client relationship skills.

• Experience drafting and arguing substantive motions and briefs.

• Deposition experience, including taking and defending depositions.

• Trial experience preferred but not required.

• Admission to the state bar where practicing or eligibility for admission by waiver.

Salary: $235,000–$310,000 annually, depending on location, experience, qualifications, and other factors, plus potential discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
