# Job Opportunity – NICU Registered Nurse – Virginia Start Date: October 2026
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Schedule: Night shift, 36 or 48 hours per week, 13 or 26-week contract available. Weekend coverage required (3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period). Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. Highlights: - Level III/IV NICU with 54-bed unit caring for neonates and infants with complex conditions including extreme prematurity, cardiac anomalies, and post-operative cases- Patient ratio of 1:1, 1:2 for ICU patients, and 1:3 for step-down- Epic charting system with 36 hours of orientation provided- Contract options: 13 or 26 weeks beginning in October- Float opportunities within specialty areas including PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, and Labor & Delivery- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services Requirements: - Active Virginia RN license (pending acceptable, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)- Minimum 2 years of full-time Level III NICU experience required; Level IV highly preferred- BLS certification required- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required at submission- Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (can submit pending; $200 cost)- Epic charting system experience required- Strong clinical competency with high-frequency ventilation, conventional ventilators, iNO, tracheostomy care, CPAP/BiPAP, IV fluid management including drips, hemodynamic support, post-op care, whole body cooling, and advanced NICU procedures- Experience with IV placements, lab draws, wound/drain/line care, ostomy care, medication calculations, and ABG interpretation- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions) Why It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers experienced NICU nurses the chance to work in a high-acuity environment with a diverse case mix, providing critical care to the most vulnerable patients.
