Casual Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Opportunity

New Ulm Medical Center is seeking a Casual APP to provide vacation coverage and supplemental support in the Emergency Department. The ED is always staffed by a physician, with the APP serving as a second provider during periods of higher patient volume. You will work alongside a team of ED physicians and have access to support from a wide variety of specialties. This role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support a collaborative Emergency Department team while helping meet fluctuating patient care needs.

Position Details

• Minimum commitment of 1 shift per month
• Regular shift opportunities:
• Sunday: 3:00 PM10:00 PM
• MondayThursday: 9:00 AM5:00 PM
• Designated holidays: 10:00 AM10:00 PM
• Christmas Eve & New Year's Eve: 3:00 PM10:00 PM
• Additional shifts may be available during surge periods, including Fridays, Saturdays, holidays, and as-needed departmental support.
• Quarterly schedules are developed in advance (e.g., AprilJune schedules are finalized in January).
• 24/7 access to specialty service lines, including mental health, cardiology, neurology, and pediatrics
• 11-bed Emergency Department with approximately 9,500 annual visits
• Level IV Trauma Center and stroke-ready facility
• Supported by an experienced nursing team and employed EMS network

Job Description

• Complete comprehensive patient assessments to determine diagnosis and treatment
• Order and interpret medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
• Prescribe medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
• Provide patient education and consult with physician teammates when the patient's need is outside of scope
• Promote communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff and act as a resource to members of the team
• Act as liaison with outside agencies as needed

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited physician assistant program OR nurse practitioner program
• Need ED/Urgent Care experience required to be casual
• New Graduates may be considered
• Experience in family practice, internal medicine, urgent or emergency care strongly preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire OR Certified Nurse Practitioner - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification within specialty required upon hire
• BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required within 180 Days
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Pay Range

Pay Range: $141,731 to $155,896 per yearThe pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
