SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (SLP) - 1.0 FTE Continuing

SUMMARY:

Provides comprehensive, school-based speech and language services - including assessment, therapy, and IEP collaboration - to support the communciation, academic, and social development of stduents ages 3 to 22 across the district.


REPORTS TO: Director of Student Services

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide a full range of services to children ages 3 to 22, district-wide, including screening, assessment and intervention related to articulation, language, fluency, voice, hearing impairments, and augmentative and alternative communication.
  2. Design treatment programs, provide direct therapy and consult with school staff, parents and outside agencies as appropriate.
  3. Schedule and conduct IEP/evaluation meetings.
  4. Function effectively as a member and/or leader of a multidisciplinary assessment team to determine the child's eligibility for services, appropriate programming and ongoing progress and needs.
  5. Provide an enthusiastic and positive learning climate which promotes appropriate behavior and successful learning. Interacts regularly and positively with students, colleagues, parents, and patrons of the school district.
  6. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, provide progress reports as required, and communicate with parents as deemed necessary.
  7. Participate in building and district-level meetings as needed.
  8. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  9. Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  10. Attend staff and other professional meetings as may be assigned or necessary.
  11. Other similar, related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Washington State ESA Certificate, or ability to meet all requirements necessary to obtain ESA
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable
  • Must favorable pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check
  • Demonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgement when communicating with students, parents, staff, and community
  • Demonstrated success by training/experience which recognizes all children as learners
  • Preference given to quality current references
  • Must submit a complete application packet

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment:
  • Salary Range: $52,690.00 - $104,643.00 per year; placement based on experience and level of education
  • Length of Contract: This is a 1.0 FTE continuing contract beginning with the 2026-2027 school year; 182 days plus professional development
  • Leaves/Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year; additional benefits may include sick leave, personal days, and holidays

  • Criminal Justice/Fingerprint Clearance
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate
