The Manager of Music Theatre and Opera Productions will construct scenery, manage props, oversee inventories, maintain facilities and equipment, and purchase specific materials needed for production. The candidate chosen will assist with overseeing the work of supporting staff and contractors, students in scenic, property construction, paint, lighting, sound, media and stage management, and teach production classes. This classification requires a flexible work schedule in order to meet the needs of the department.Position Salary Range:$48,600 - $52,000; depends on experience within posted range.Essential Duties:Serves as Manager and Technical Director of Music Theatre and Opera productions.Works with MTO faculty and staff to plan, develop and execute production schedules, builds, work plans and creates work methods, procedures, and workflow in accordance with quality standards, specifications, objectives and funding limitations for all MTO productions.Supervise, train and evaluate assigned MTO staff, students and contractors.Recruits, trains, mentors and supervises students.Coordinates with MTO faculty, staff and production representatives and reads contracts to ascertain needs for the production; determines feasibility and makes arrangements for stage management, special staging, rental equipment, special effects.Coordinates the execution or executes the design and/or designs stage scenery/props, the lighting and/or lighting effects, and sound systems. Oversees building, painting and props of multiple productions simultaneously.Attends production and departmental meetings.Oversees and organizes scene shops, maintains all scenic production-related equipment, manages scenic production inventories and organization, and purchasing of technical supplies and equipment.Assists in determining staffing needs and schedules crews for events.Prepares budget proposals and recommendations and establishes budget control system for controlling expenditures; controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations; recommends equipment and resources for function/program; advises appropriate party if approaching budgetary limit.Assists with reports such as event evaluations, industrial injury summaries and expenditure summaries for each event.Interacts and maintains liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.Schedules facility rentals and services for use by campus and outside organizations.Maintains direct contact with personnel of various outside organizations and university departments associated with scheduled function/program.Serves as a representative to ensure all aspects of function/program are implemented and controlled according to plans.Serves as Safety Compliance Officer. Performs safety checks on equipment and facilities ensuring safety guidelines are being met.
