Direct Counsel

Job Description

Direct Counsel represents a prestigious AmLaw firm seeking a Privacy & Cybersecurity Litigation Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join its nationally recognized Privacy & Cybersecurity practice.

This position is open in the following office locations:

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in cutting-edge privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection litigation. The practice represents clients nationwide in high-profile litigation, class actions, arbitrations, regulatory investigations, and data security matters across a wide range of industries.

Responsibilities:

Defend clients in privacy, cybersecurity, and consumer protection litigation matters
Handle state and federal court litigation, including class action matters
Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery-related documents
Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies
Assist with regulatory investigations and enforcement matters
Advise clients on privacy and cybersecurity risks, compliance issues, and incident response matters
Communicate directly with clients and coordinate with multiple stakeholders on fast-moving matters
Support arbitrations, investigations, and complex data privacy disputes

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
2–4 years of litigation experience
Experience with privacy, cybersecurity, consumer protection, or class action litigation preferred
Experience defending claims under privacy statutes such as CCPA/CPRA, TCPA, CIPA/ECPA, CMIA, CEMA, COPPA, BIPA, and/or FCRA preferred
Exposure to regulatory investigations involving agencies such as the FTC, DOJ, SEC, state attorneys general, or international regulators is a plus
Experience with or interest in security incident response
Strong understanding of technology and emerging digital platforms
Excellent analytical, organizational, writing, and communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and client-facing experience
Admitted and in good standing with the California Bar

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range: $235,000 – $310,000 annually
