General Notes As part of UT Dell Medical School transformation into a world-class academic health enterprise, we are launching an Enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) transformation centered on Workday, beginning in Fall 2026. To support this approximately 18-month implementation, we are recruiting both permanent and project-based HR and technology professionals who will help design, implement, and optimize Workday. This is a unique opportunity to build the foundational HR technology platform that will support the future University of Texas Dell Medical Center and the broader academic health enterprise. The Lead Informaticist serves as the enterprise informatics leader for a designated operational, digital health, or business portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Medical Informatics Officer or designated operational leader, this role applies informatics principles to optimize workflows, technology adoption, operational performance, and user experience across multiple departments and enterprise technology platforms. Purpose The Lead Informaticist leads large-scale transformation initiatives that support organizational priorities through workflow redesign, technology implementation, governance, standardization, and continuous optimization. Acting as a strategic liaison between operational leaders, clinicians, end users, technology teams, and executive stakeholders, this role translates organizational objectives into sustainable workflows, technology-enabled solutions, performance measures, and adoption strategies. The position serves as the primary informatics lead for complex enterprise initiatives, driving workflow analysis, governance, implementation planning, change management, KPI development, system optimization, and ongoing performance improvement across assigned portfolios. Responsibilities Leads Enterprise Informatics Initiatives Serve as the informatics lead on major operational transformation initiatives involving Epic Ambulatory, Workday, UKG, and integrated enterprise applications. Conduct workflow analysis and future-state design for revenue cycle, scheduling, workforce management, provider staffing, and operational processes. Collaborate with application, integration, and operational teams to ensure seamless system interoperability. Develop project plans, testing strategies, communication plans, and adoption metrics. Identify and escalation barriers impacting implementation success, operational efficiency, or financial outcomes. Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, governance standards, and system lifecycle methodologies. Establishes Governance, Standards, and Strategic Alignment Lead governance councils, advisory groups, and stakeholder forums related to assigned informatics portfolios. Establish and operationalize enterprise workflow standards, best practices, and informatics methodologies. Partner with organizational leaders to prioritize initiatives and support strategic decision-making. Develop recommendations for workflow, process, and technology improvements based on organizational goals and performance data. Promote consistency, compliance, and standardization across departments and technology platforms. Leads Workflow Optimization and Continuous Improvement Lead workflow redesign and optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, user experience, and operational performance. Identify opportunities to standardize processes across departments and service lines. Guide post-implementation stabilization, adoption, and optimization activities. Use data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement efforts. Evaluate the effectiveness of technology-enabled workflows and recommend enhancements. Drives Change Management and Organizational Adoption Lead change management strategies for complex informatics initiatives. Develop communication, stakeholder engagement, and adoption plans. Facilitate consensus among various stakeholder groups and competing priorities. Ensure organizational readiness and successful transition to new workflows and technologies. Monitor adoption and address barriers to sustained success. Applies Performance Improvement Methodologies Apply Lean, PDCA, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence. Facilitate process mapping, standard work development, and workflow redesign. Measure and report outcomes associated with informatics initiatives. Establish KPIs and success metrics to evaluate organizational performance and technology utilization. Use data-driven insights to support decision-making and prioritization. Provides Leadership, Consultation, and Mentorship Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor on informatics strategy, workflow design, and technology adoption. Provide guidance and mentorship to informaticists, operational leaders, and project teams. Support leadership in evaluating informatics opportunities and enterprise priorities. Review and validate educational, training, and communication materials. Promote informatics best practices across the organization. Marginal or Periodic Functions Participate in vendor evaluations and contract discussions. Represent the organization at informatics conferences and professional forums. Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Contribute to grant proposals and research initiatives. Assist with enterprise-wide informatics strategy development. Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure. Perform related duties as required. Technical and Informatics Expertise Demonstrate strong understanding of healthcare technology systems and integration concepts. Evaluate technology solutions and recommend improvements. Apply informatics principles to operational, clinical, and business challenges. Analytics and Performance Improvement Establish, interpret, and communicate KPIs and performance measures. Use data to drive workflow optimization and operational improvements. Identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions. Relationship Management Build strong relationships with executives, operational leaders, clinicians, technology teams, and end users. Facilitate collaboration across departments and disciplines. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of eight years of experience in healthcare informatics, operational improvement, workflow design, healthcare technology implementation, digital transformation, or related areas. Experience leading large-scale, cross‑functional initiatives involving multiple departments and stakeholder groups. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field. Experience establishing governance frameworks and enterprise standards. Experience with enterprise healthcare technology platforms and integrated systems. Licenses/Registrations/Certifications: Required None specified in the approved job description. Preferred Informatics certification. Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, Prosci, or a related discipline. Certification in technology platforms relevant to the assigned portfolio.
