Field Service Engineer - Springfield

Salary: $87,360 - 95,680 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree or college diploma, along with at least 5 years of experience in water treatment and a strong grasp of structural, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, piping, welding, and civil engineering concepts.
• We require a valid passport and drivers license, plus the ability to travel extensively across North America and internationally for long stretches, representing roughly 70%–80% of the role.
• We need deep expertise in water treatment systems and technologies such as reverse osmosis, ion exchange, and thermal processes, with proven success in startup, commissioning, and process optimization.
• We require solid water treatment chemistry knowledge and the ability to apply engineering principles to troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and practical problem resolution.
• We expect you to work independently and remotely with cross-functional project teams, driving assignments to completion with limited supervision while meeting deadlines.
• We require strong technical capability with analytical instruments, calibrated tools, hand tools, and the safe handling of corrosive fluids such as acids and bases.
• We need working knowledge of electrical equipment, control systems, and safety procedures, plus the physical ability to perform hands-on instrument and equipment servicing.
• We require strong client management skills, the ability to communicate technical information clearly, and confidence presenting to varied audiences and balancing stakeholder needs.
• We require proficiency with computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, network operations, and database tools for documentation and reporting.
• We expect excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise technical reports and deliver customer-facing presentations.
• We require strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple service projects, instruments, and administrative tasks at the same time.

• Preferred: hands-on electrical experience, including reading drawings and working with electrical panels and water treatment equipment.

• Preferred: operating experience with evaporators, crystallizers, RO systems, micro-filtration, clarification, and conventional filtration.

• We participate in model reviews, engineering design meetings, and safety-in-design reviews to support equipment accessibility, maintainability, and operability.
• We conduct factory acceptance testing for control systems together with clients and their designated representatives.
• We analyze issues, gather and assess data, and draw sound conclusions to improve operations and verify design feasibility.
• We apply mathematical and chemistry-based calculations to support water treatment analysis, budget monitoring, and time-and-materials cost control.
• We act as the construction liaison between design engineering and construction teams during water treatment plant erection.
• We identify and correct alignment and plumb-related installation issues for equipment.
• We coordinate outside vendors and suppliers to ensure services and materials meet project specifications and performance expectations.
• We maintain a strong safety focus so work is completed in line with our technical standards and safety requirements.
• We develop and execute commissioning schedules and performance plans for water treatment plants.
• We commission treatment facilities by verifying that process equipment and control systems operate to specification.
• We perform PLC/HMI tasks such as IO checkout, networking, program upload/download, ladder logic and function block review, troubleshooting, and simple logic creation.
• We provide technical guidance to customer representatives on installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at client sites.
• We create standard operating procedures and log sheets to document and track equipment performance.
• We design and deliver classroom and hands-on training for process equipment operation and maintenance.
• We carry out after-market support, including site inspections, equipment inspections, and operator training.
• We prepare timely, accurate technical reports for customer records and future reference.
