Sr Merchandise Planner - Mens Outdoor Apparel

Academy Sports + Outdoors is a leading sporting goods retailer with over 22,000 team members. Responsibilities Support financial and assortment planning to drive sales, profit, and inventory efficiency across categories. Build financial plans, guide system enhancements, and provide timely insights to buyers and divisional leaders. Ensure planning processes remain accurate, consistent, and aligned with business goals. Evaluate proposed actions, maintain documentation and training content, and coordinate ad hoc reporting to support decision‑making. Collaborate with CSMs, merchants, and DMMs to shape assortment and planogram decisions for each category, strengthening forecasting, operational readiness, and long‑term business growth. Collaboration Partner with Buyers, Divisional Merchandise Managers, and Category Management teams. Work with cross‑functional partners to maintain accurate processes, attend vendor meetings, and support system improvements that enhance planning quality. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience. 6+ years of related work experience. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Experience with merchandise financial and assortment planning. Strong communication and presentation skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Oracle, SAS, JDA Space Planning, and related tools. Ability to identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and improved accuracy. Team‑first attitude and willingness to step in wherever needed. Work Style and Physical Requirements Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Maintain regular in‑office attendance for planning, analysis, and system enhancements. Acceptable level of hearing and vision required to perform job duties.
