• Seeking a board-certified or truly board-eligible Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

• Must have prior surgical experience

• Inpatient coverage only - no call

• Coverage needed Monday-Sunday

• 12-hour shifts:

  • Days: 7a-7p

  • Nights: 7p-7a

• Holiday coverage is required - providers must be able to cover at least some of the holiday shifts to be considered

• Holiday coverage dates:

  • December 23: Day

  • December 24: Day and Night

  • December 25: Day and Night

  • December 26: Day

  • December 27: Day

  • January 1: Night

• January coverage: Approximately 8-10 shifts per provider

• Provider presentations must clearly list the specific dates the provider is available to cover

• EMR: Epic

• Inpatient Trauma and Emergency General Surgery (EGS) service

• Level II Trauma Center

• APP staffing:

  • Day shift: 2 APPs

  • Night shift: 1 APP

• APPs work closely with Trauma/Acute Care Surgeons

• Morning rounds

• OR first assisting

• Evaluating new EGS consults

• Managing inpatient surgical and trauma services

• Responding to trauma activations

• Critical care management

• Performing bedside procedures, including:

  • Incision and drainage (I&D)

  • Laceration repairs

  • Chest tube placement

  • Central line placement

• Average census: 20 patients per day

• Average cases:

  • Day: 3

  • Night: 1

• Average admissions:

  • Day: 5

  • Night: 2-5

• Average consults:

  • Day: Fewer than 10

  • Night: More than 5

• Cholecystectomy

• Appendectomy

• Trauma exploratory laparotomy

• Colon resections

• Graham patch repairs

• Hernia repairs

• No bariatric or foregut surgery

• Interventional Radiology

• Orthopedic Trauma

• Neurosurgery

• Plastic Surgery

• Cardiothoracic Surgery
