Assistant Project ManagerIndependence Excavating is looking for a driven and ambitious Assistant Project Manager to join our team! As an Assistant Project Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day project administrative and management needs. You will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with purchase orders, subcontracts, RFI's, submittals, job costs and projections. Leave the world a better place than we found it.A Typical Day Looks Like:Reading, understanding and interpreting drawings and specificationsPreparing and analyzing project schedulesReview site safety, security, and maintenance of traffic and storm water pollution plansMaking sure that required permits are obtainedMaking a detailed list of subcontracts and purchase orders along with contacts for Superintendents prior to the start of the jobCoordinating construction activities with local officials (engineering, service dept, fire, police, zoning, etc.) to keep Independence in good standing with the local government and residentsPreparing, reviewing and returning submittals for items to be manufactured or providedAssembling job cost codes for projects and regularly updatePreparing monthly detailed Payment Requisitions for submission to ownersWorking with Superintendent to determine equipment & crew needsCoordinating Subcontractors and material deliveries on major itemsHolding progress meetings with the Owner and SubcontractorsMaking sure that Superintendents, Subcontractors and Suppliers receive amended drawings and specifications as well as a working contact list for the projectPreparing change order requests or extra work to be presented to the owner, and review with project team prior to being sent out.Developing positive working relationships with Owners and Project EngineersReviewing and approving Subcontractor / Supplier estimates & invoicesResponsibility for ensuring that company maintains profit margin on jobVisiting projects regularly to stay up on current issues and progressOther duties as assignedDo You Have What It Takes?Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management or an equivalent combination of education and experience3+ years' experience working in heavy highway construction preferred2+ years' in an Assistant Project Manager role and/or Project Engineer roleExperience in a construction management software; HCSS, Primavera, P6 Scheduling experience a plusMust have strong organizational skills in order to handle the variety of tasks assignedMust develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers as well as local government officesDemonstrated ability to manage people, budget, schedule, and quality of work at multiple construction sitesMust be competent to perform complete and accurate project take-offs and estimatesMust be willing and able to travel up to 30%Why IX?Competitive Weekly PayExcellent Benefits:MedicalDentalVisionFSA & HSALife Insurance + Optional Family Life InsuranceShort-term and Long-term DisabilityWellness Incentive ProgramPaid Holidays and PTO401(k) + Company matchPaid corporate training programTuition ReimbursementStability and a variety of different roles that provide a path to career advancementFamily-owned and operated since 1956Independence Excavating, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we value workplace diversity and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
