Financial Aid Advisor Strategic Enrollment Management

Job Summary

This position is located at the Cal Poly Solano Campus in Vallejo California. Under the general direction of the Director of Financial Aid at the Cal Poly Solano Campus this position serves as the initial contact via phone in-person and via email correspondence for current and prospective students and their families as well as general public inquires; does document in-take; and completes necessary reviews of financial aid files to ensure accuracy of awards and disbursement of financial aid.

Department Summary

The Financial Aid Office is responsible for the determination of eligibility for and awarding of federal state institutional and private grants scholarships and work and loan programs in excess of $150M annually to over 13000 eligible students. The office is responsible for adhering to the regulatory requirements as outlined in federal and state regulations as well as donor and institutional policies and for assuring compliance by the University. The Financial Aid Office serves the University by assisting students in obtaining financial aid and scholarships to attend Cal Poly Maritime Academy and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The Offices primary function is to provide appropriate financial aid based on federal and state parameters and in keeping with CSU and Cal Poly institutional policies.

Key Qualifications

• Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management research and interviewing techniques and the principles of individual and group behavior.
• General knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire working knowledge of federal Title IV state and institutional financial aid regulations programs and eligibility requirements.
• General knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the objectives organization and procedures of the campus Student Services program and its relationship to overall campus operations including how admissions academic records and student accounts interface with financial aid.
• Working knowledge of English grammar spelling and punctuation.
• Ability to interpret and apply program rules regulations and procedures to individual student circumstances and to explain the basis for eligibility determinations to students and parents.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences public or business administration or a jobrelated field. One year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
Equivalent amounts of graduate level jobrelated education may be substituted for the required experience.
Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the required knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a yearforyear basis.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range:$54000 - $62000 Per Year

Classification Range: $53784 - $76104 Per Year

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position based on internal equity budget and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
