Software Engineer - ML Ops/Java

MLOps / Java Engineer (Contract)

The team is looking to hire a contractor to support machine learning initiatives, specifically focused on deploying and scaling ML models in production.

Key Responsibilities

• Support machine learning operations (MLOps) initiatives
• Help deploy, manage, and scale ML models in production environments
• Work on expanding an existing ML product (smart fulfillment model rollout)
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate ML solutions into production systems

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in MLOps / ML engineering with Python
• Proven ability to take ML models from development to production
• Background in data and machine learning systems
• Experience with Java (can be secondary to ML expertise, but still required)
• Familiarity with modern AI tooling, especially:
  • GitHub Copilot (preferred)
  • Exposure to tools like Claude is a plus (not required)

Nice-to-Have

• Experience working in enterprise environments
• Exposure to large-scale ML deployments
• Balanced skill set across ML + backend engineering

Candidate Profile

• Ideally:
  • Stronger on ML/MLOps, with some Java experience
  • OR strong Java engineer with meaningful ML exposure
• Must be dependable and able to work without causing delivery risk
