Final Filing Date: 8/31/2026 Work Location: Kern County Telework: In Office Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Work Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Work Week: Monday through Friday Position Overview Under direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) is a member of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of technical support analysts. The position performs independently, with minimum supervision, and is responsible for advanced personal computer (PC) support and network connectivity. The position leads technical staff that provides first line support for personal computer workstation installation, problem diagnostics, and resolution, training and customer support. Duties extend to provide support for planning, acquiring, researching and evaluating new technology and products to be used within the current technical environment. The position establishes and maintains constructive professional relationships with the bureau’s PC customers and must effectively communicate technical information with them, including those customers considered to be non-technical. Working Conditions North Kern State Prison (NKSP) opened in April 1993 and is a medium‑security prison located in Delano, Kern County. It is also known as the Diamond of the Golden Empire. Delano is located in the Kern County‑Bakersfield metropolitan area and is the second largest city in Kern County. The facility acts as both a reception center and a medium custody facility, as well as a transportation hub for when incarcerated individuals are transported over a long distance through California. This position is located in Kern County in the city of Delano and requires local in‑person duties to be performed. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
