Labor Relations Specialist

Position Title Labor Relations Assistant – Labor Relations – Mount Sinai Health System – Full Time – Days Position Summary The Labor Relations Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the hospital’s Labor Relations team. This entry-level position assists with scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and providing customer service to staff and union representatives. The role ensures the smooth daily operation of labor relations activities within a large, unionized hospital system. Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for the Labor Relations office by answering phones, responding to inquiries, and directing calls or visitors appropriately. Schedule grievance hearings, labor-management meetings, and arbitration sessions; coordinate meeting logistics, collects supporting evidence from management, reviews, redacts patient identifiers and prepares materials. Maintain organized filing systems—both electronic and paper files for contracts, grievances, and labor documentation. Assist in tracking grievance and disciplinary actions under the guidance of Labor Relations staff. Prepare routine correspondence, meeting notes, and reports as directed. Update tracking spreadsheets, contact lists, and department calendars. Tracks employee, corporate compliance complaints, documents follow up and close out of investigation outcome. Support Labor Relations staff with preparing packets for negotiations and maintaining document confidentiality. Coordinate messenger and mail services for time-sensitive labor relations materials. Perform general office duties including photocopying, scanning, data entry, and inventory of office supplies. Assists with investigation of employee issues. Familiar with provisions of the collective bargaining agreements and provides direction as required. Collects and manipulates data to generate various reports Completes assigned Labor Relations projects, as needed, such as year-end data reports. Occasional travel between hospital campuses may be required. Education Requirements Associate’s degree or some college coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred. Experience Requirements 1–2 years of clerical or office support experience; experience in a hospital or unionized setting a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HR or case management systems preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Compensation Statement The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $17.29 - $25.94 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
