Accounting Manager - (GC / Construction Management business)

-Construction industry accounting experience is required for this position-

Robert Half is partnering with a construction company seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to report directly to the Corporate Treasurer . This hands-on role will oversee core accounting operations and support project financial management in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee AP and AR process and AP and AR Specialists within the department
• Process AIA requisitions for owners.
• Manage certified payroll for subcontractors.
• Handle job costing and set up new jobs in the system.
• Lead month-end close and prepare journal entries.
• Maintain the general ledger and balance monthly statements.
• Perform bank, vendor, and subcontractor reconciliations.
• Create and manage the annual budget.
• Initiate purchase orders.
• Manage sales and use tax compliance.
• Oversee contracts administration.

Qualifications

• Construction accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of AIA billing, certified payroll, job costing, and subcontractor accounting.
• Experience with month-end close, budgeting, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Proven experience in full-charge bookkeeping with responsibility for end-to-end accounting processes

• Background in construction accounting with a strong understanding of project-based financial workflows

• Hands-on experience with job costing, subcontractor-related accounting, and certified payroll administration

• Proficiency with Sage 300, Sage Timberline, or similar accounting platforms used in construction environments

• Knowledge of general ledger management, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities

• Familiarity with sales and use tax reporting, budgeting, and contract administration support

• Experience with AIA billing and construction industry invoicing practices

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting
