Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Job Type: Full-Time, Onsite, Direct Hire
Compensation: $78,000–$83,000 annually, D.O.E.

Company Overview

We are a growing contract manufacturing organization specializing in product development, manufacturing, and fulfillment for established and emerging consumer brands. We are seeking a proactive Buyer to support purchasing operations, develop supplier relationships, and ensure the timely procurement of materials required for production and customer fulfillment.

Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing raw materials, packaging, components, and services while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery objectives. This position works closely with production, scheduling, customer service, R&D, and business development teams to support manufacturing operations and ensure uninterrupted material availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase goods, raw materials, packaging, components, and services in alignment with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
• Ensure continuous supply of required materials and communicate supply risks that may impact operations.
• Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and sourcing opportunities.
• Research cost-saving initiatives and identify areas for process improvement.
• Provide schedulers with expected material arrival dates and proactively communicate delays.
• Partner with customer service teams to provide accurate updates regarding customer orders and material availability.
• Support R&D projects by sourcing materials, samples, and required documentation.
• Source packaging materials for new product launches and business development initiatives.
• Process orders transitioning from development to production and identify procurement requirements.
• Evaluate supplier performance, maintain contract compliance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and qualify alternative suppliers and sourcing options.
• Resolve supplier issues related to pricing, quality, delivery, and invoicing.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through effective communication and collaboration.
• Attend cross-functional meetings and communicate potential procurement risks that could impact customer commitments.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years of purchasing experience within a contract manufacturing environment.
• Must have experience supporting batch-process manufacturing environments.
• Must have experience purchasing raw materials used in blending, compounding, mixing, or products manufactured in-house.
• Cosmetics, personal care, CPG, nutraceutical, or other FDA-regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• Aerospace manufacturing experience is not considered a fit for this position.
• Strong understanding of procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and inventory planning.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Will consider work experience with undergraduate degree.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
• Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
