Assembly Technician

PiperThe piper is responsible for mounting all major components, installing interconnecting piping, soldering and pressure testing for commercial/industrial HVAC & refrigeration equipment. Essential functions include maintaining a safe and clean working environment, reading and understanding engineering drawings and instructions, reading and understanding bills of material, operating pipe cutters, threaders, torch, and all required equipment, soldering, checking work for quality, matching equipment serial numbers to engineering drawing/bill of materials ensuring 100% accuracy, signing off all administrative paperwork when job is completed, locating all equipment, tools, and parts needed for job, determining appropriate unit layout based on engineering drawing and equipment functionality, maneuvering in and around unit and sustaining awkward positions in order to accurately place components on unit, laying out equipment so that all parts are easily serviceable, contributing to team effort by working with others and accomplishing related functions as needed, completing any task as assigned by supervisor as needed, complying with government regulations, laws, company policies and company procedures, working overtime as necessary, attending work as required, arriving for work on time, charging time accurately in time and attendance system on computer to ensure accurate labor distribution and payroll, following manufacturing instructions, working by oneself without constant supervision, being self-motivated and completing job assignments on time, caring for tools and equipment, advising maintenance of equipment that is not working properly, and cleaning work area as required.Desired qualifications include a high school level of education, effective communications skills, good listening skills, ability to read and comprehend written instructions, basic mathematical skills, ability to control operations of equipment or system, monitoring/assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action, good people skills in order to work in teams with others in the organization, and on-site training.Interaction with others includes answering to final assembly supervisor, accurately receiving, understanding and following instructions from supervisor/lead, working with all employees of the team, showing a spirit of cooperation with others in the organization, getting along well with coworkers, and being willing to ask and answer questions as needed.The working environment is in an industrial production area for a manufacturer of refrigeration and HVAC equipment, constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, high noise level in some areas, exposed to extreme temperatures in both winter and summer, possible stress caused by the pressure of meeting deadlines and product quality standards and seasonal variations in hours worked based on production demands.Tools and equipment used include hand tools, tape measure, drill, zap/screw gun, grinder, pipe cutters, cold saw/tube saw, overhead crane, forklift, power tools, hole pullers, mig welder, clamps and vices, pipe threading machine, lifting straps/chains, glasses, gloves, computer, and ear plugs (when required).Physical requirements include sustained use of eyesight for visual inspection, reading, measuring and operating hand tools, ability to see objects and detect motion at wide angles (peripheral vision) in order to maintain employee safety, ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. safety glasses, hearing protection), substantial movement of wrist, hands, fingers.Type of position: Full-Time Hourly position 6-4:30 M-F
