Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Swiss lathes, including programming using CNC G-code and M-code for optimal machining performance.
• Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication of parts.
• Perform machine calibration, tool changes, and adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and high-quality output.
• Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions.
• Read and analyze blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and machining instructions to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Maintain proper tooling setup, including selecting appropriate machining tools and grinding tools for specific operations.
• Conduct quality inspections during and after production runs, ensuring parts meet strict quality standards through CNC quality inspection techniques.
• Troubleshoot machine issues, perform basic maintenance, and document production data accurately for continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing practices.

Skills

• Proficiency in CNC programming languages including G-code, M-code, Fanuc controls, or similar systems.
• Strong knowledge of Mazatrol programming is a plus.
• Experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is advantageous.
• Skilled in CAM programming software and SolidWorks for part design verification.
• Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and mechanical blueprint interpretation skills.
• Familiarity with machining tools such as grinders, hand tools, power tools, lathe machines, milling machines, and CNC milling machines.
• Mechanical knowledge combined with an understanding of measurement techniques using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements and machine setup adjustments.
• Experience with manual machining processes including lathe work when necessary.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles for precise measurement in machining operations.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency.
• Ability to work with plastics injection molding components is a bonus.
