Electrical Estimator: Lead Bid & GMP Development

At DAVIS, we're redefining the way people experience construction by building success for all.SUMMARY:The Electrical Estimator is responsible for assisting the Estimating and Preconstruction teams in pursuing work through the development of proposal responses, providing preconstruction services, preparing competitive bid responses and compiling Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposals for negotiated projects, with a specific focus on the Electrical discipline.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture or related field, or equivalent relevant experienceTwo (2) to six (6) years’ experience in estimating or construction within the electrical tradesExperience bidding and budgeting the electrical tradesExperience with quantity takeoff softwareFamiliarity with the design process and related design disciplinesPlan reading experienceSpecialized application experienceTECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE:Supports estimate / bid / GMP assembly for the trade specializationPerforms scope writing and qualification development; proficient in Division 16 tradesSolicits and reviews bids from trade partners and material suppliers; analyzes submitted responses to identify missing scope, listed qualifications, noted exclusions and work to compare equivalent bid submissionsPerforms basic quantity takeoffsReviews documents for quality control; supports constructability reviewsAssists in the development of specific systems analyses and creation of Value Engineering and Alternates lists/logsSupports trade partner solicitation and communication/coordination; familiar with trade partner specialization; responsible for trade partner / supplier coverage and effective communication and managementResearches and compiles historical data for use in future estimate preparation and bidsBuilds relationships with trade partners and design teamsBecomes familiar with the trade partner buyout processAttends design meetings and presentations as requiredCORE COMPETENCIES FOR THE ROLE:Autonomy + AccountabilityUses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products and servicesWorks independently, receives minimal guidanceAccountable for own work and possibly others on the teamBusiness ImpactImpacts own team, adjacent teams, and potentially across the companyDecisions are made with minimal guidance and may affect the success of the department / revenue groupContributes to strategic market sector / department business development planningTalent DevelopmentServes as a lead for the team, leading small projectsMay have formal supervisory responsibilitiesProvides subject matter guidance to team members with less experienceProblem Solving + ResiliencyProvides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring based on practice and existing precedents or proceduresGathers and analyzes data to identify and solve problems that arise with little or no precedentDAVIS CORE VALUES:TRUSTExcellence in Service – Fulfilling our clients’ highest expectationsInclusion – Ensuring a culture of respect and acceptance, where all employees have a sense of purpose and belongingIntegrity – Exhibiting honesty and fairness while holding ourselves accountable for our actionsBuilding Relationships – Creating and maintaining strong partnerships through leadership, creative solutions and hard workThe base salary (or hourly) range for this position is$88,000.00 - $105,000.00DAVIS is committed to providing our employees with a competitive total compensation package that enhances your quality of life.
